BBM for Android and iPhone has finally arrived!

Blackberry Messenger for the iPhone and Blackberry Messenger for Android has finally arrived! This has been a muchly anticipated application for the iPhone and, until the death of Steve Jobs, it was not possible. Thanks to the unification of two great communication and media company's mediums, we are now able to get BBM on iPhone! Many people are so excited about this amazing instant chat messenger coming to the iPhone, but until present it has not actually been seen. Rumors have been flying for over a year now that it would be coming soon, but how soon was soon? It looked like it was never going to happen.

Tell me more about BBM for iPhone and Android...

The BlackBerry messenger service runs on different types of servers to the iPhone. This includes the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, and the iPhone 5. WhatsApp and Ping, up until now were the only two chat programs running on exactly the same system servers as BBM - You’d think that this type of server differentiation would not be too big of an issue for the skilled engineers at Apple or Blackberry to work around. But you have to keep in mind however that the BlackBerry messenger service was designed specifically for BIF and BES type servers, which can handle all the different specifications and requirements needed to run BBM across thousands and thousands of phones. While it was never publicly stated, many rumors were flying around that this is the main reason why the research process never ruled out the BBM for any other platform.
'Research In Motion' didn’t get a good enough deal: there is a strong possibility that research in motion was looking for a large amount of money to bring BBM to the iPhone, Apple had just been refusing. As some people refuse to switch from a blackberry just because they do not want to lose their BlackBerry messenger contacts, it was beginning to become an essential medium that the geniuses at Apple iPhone could not miss out on! We, the public were left crying out for BBM on iPhone. 

And today, we now get to experience this! The BBM (Blackberry Messenger) came out on iPhone 4s , and iPhone 5 with a simple fee of 5.00GBP monthly for any iPhone user to sign up for. As of May 2013, the blogs have been buzzing, and finally iTunes has released confirmation that BBM for iPhone will be released id June. All along, BBM was working out the fine details with Apple in order to get everything to run smoothly, including negotiations on how much it was going to cost.

A recent poll conducted by students at the University of Keele, North Staffordshire, found that 83% of campus based students had a smart phone. Out of those 83% of students (sample size 2344), 38% owned and used an iPhone, and 43% owned and used a BlackBerry. 37% of students were found to connected to the BBM network on their BlackBerry. 24% of iPhone users said that they had considered getting a BlackBerry because of BBM. 29% of users BlackBerry owners and users agreed that, if iPhone were to bring out BBM as an iPhone application, they would switch to iPhone. When told that iPhone had developed the BBM application and that, from January, it was available through the app store or on www.bbm-for-iphone.co.uk, 18% of students asked for more information on where they could obtain the free download; BBM for iPhone Application.

This was before we knew that BBM were also releasing BMM on Android! - It would prove rather interesting to run the investigation for a second time, with a broader more diverse sample, and see just what interest this new and revolutionary BBM for iPhone and BBM for Android application would bring!
